What is our mission? We exist to reach up, reach out and reach
in. We reach up in worship to God, individually through-out the week
and corporately on Sunday mornings. We reach out with the Good News of
God’s love in both word and deed. We reach out to the poor and
marginalized in our city and around the world. We reach in through
fellowship and discipleship. We become closer to one another and grow up
to maturity, becoming more like Jesus Christ. See Acts 2:42-47 for an
example of the early church living this out. Come visit us on a Sunday
morning to see how we’re attempting to live this out in 2012.
What is our vision? We desire to see our city transformed. We
believe the gospel has the ability to renovate a life, a marriage, a
home, a church, a neighbourhood, a city. We evaluate how we are doing by
checking the crime statistics in District 8 where our church is located.
If we’re doing our job, we believe crime will decrease because the
gospel is life-altering. See Proverbs 11:11 for our prayer for our
city.
What are our beliefs? We believe in following Jesus because of who
He is and what He does. We believe the Bible has revealed God’s
narrative to our world and we find ourselves in this grand story.
Canyon Creek Christian Fellowship belongs to the Baptist General
Conference of Alberta and the Baptist General Conference of Canada and
we submit to the doctrinal statement of historical Christianity. You
can view that statement
here.
What are our actions? Jesus criticized the religious leaders of His
day who knew the Bible of the time and the correct ‘doctrines’, but
didn’t let it seep down into their hearts and souls. We believe that
beliefs ought to spiritually transform us into loving God and loving
others (see Matthew 22:36-40).
