Reading Through The New Testament In 2016. Day 143. 1 Corinthians 11

How often do you eat fast food on your own, quickly needing to get from place to place?

How often are you stopping by somewhere to eat, because it is an inconvenience to not eat it quickly?

You see, the bible looks at the table as such an important thing. Gathering around the table in fellowship seems to be more than just something that is done - it's something that holds such high importance. The last verse of this chapter really digs into that.

"So then, my brothers and sisters, when you gather to eat, you should all eat together."

One of my favorite speakers, Jeff Vanderstelt said it quite well. Paraphrased, he says he can usually tell the spiritual health of someone by the amount of fast food bags in the back of someone's car. Because when you're gathered around the table with fellow believers, I believe, as does our friend Jeff, that people grow together around the table. People are blessed and energized around that. The spirit of the Lord is around the table. So let's eat out less by ourselves. Let's gather around the table and have less fast food bags in our car. Let's look at this verse and make it real in our lives.
