Reading Through The New Testament – October 17, 2016 – Hebrews 2
During Old Testament times, God dealt with those who disobeyed His Word. In these days, we have a greater obligation to obey because we have the complete Scriptures and the full revelation of God in Jesus Christ. Do you take what God says to you seriously? Because this this book is the direct word of God, and it needs to be taken seriously.
Hebrews 2 opens up with a verse that grabbed a hold of me immediately. “So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.”
I find in my times of drifting, it’s because I am not listening carefully to the truth that I already know. This truth is found written across a book that all of us in this country have access too. The only way we can not drift away is by listening to the truth, and the truth is written in the scriptures. How seriously do you take these? Maybe you’re behind on your new testament readings. Maybe you thought this was a good idea at the beginning of January, and now you’re behind now. Maybe you’re reading this Facebook post, and like every other post you kind of glance at, you feel guilty for the chapters you forgot to read.
But I am here to tell you that you must not give up! Read the truth, and let it permeate your heart. You don’t even need to catch up. Pick up your bible and let God speak to you right here now. Maybe start with Hebrews 2.
