Reading Through The New Testament in 2016 - November 24th - 1 John 4
I read this passage, specifically the first 6 verses, and become weary. This passage talks about how there are many false prophets in this world. There could even be those who even will tell you that they are Christian, but are still presenting a false gospel to you. These people will speak from the world’s viewpoint, and the world will indeed listen to them. I do not think I will ever have a right to publicly those who I think are false teachers. But I think you can make those decisions for yourself. Every single person has access to the holy scriptures, and can then figure out who these people are.

Therefore, reading your bible is so important. As I learn more and more about Jesus, it just gets to me how little my generation knows their bible. And that’s where you can be trapped. Listening and believing everything preached at you without knowing the character of God is a dangerous place to be. I love the verse in this chapter that talks about us belonging to God: “But you belong to God, my dear children”. We belong to him. Not any false teacher or not even your pastor who might be preaching a solid truth every single Sunday. We belong to God, so let’s get to know him by reading the book that he gave us so that we can know him more intimately.
