Reading Through The New Testament in 2016 - December 23rd, 2016 - Revelation 17

Reading through commentaries, I found this statement:

Chapter 17 describes the coming judgment of God on the religious system that has enslaved the human race in superstitious darkness for centuries

That is interesting to me. What does that mean? I feel like I need an interpretation for the interpreter. I wonder if this means that those who upheld to talking about God or making rules for God, but not being in a relationship with God are the ones in danger.

A good question to ask yourself always I this: Are you bowing to God’s will? Are you talking to him, listening to him, and communicating to him through his words? Or are you using his words as a benefit to your own social standards? These are important questions to ask yourself, and is something I need to constantly check myself in with. Legalism is dangerous, and you can certainly see why in this chapter.
