An Opportunity for Us To Get To Know Our Muslim Neighbors
This week we mourn with our Muslim neighbors over the murders committed in a place of worship in Quebec.
I can't imagine not feeling safe in a place of worship.
I can't imagine having graffiti on our building telling me I'm not welcome.
I can't imagine what it must feel like for every Muslim in our country this week.
In the wake of this horrible situation, we have an opportunity to respond in love and show that Jesus is a prince of peace.
I reached out to an Islamic Centre in our area and asked what we can do to show our support. In response they have invited us to attend an interfaith event this Sunday. It's an open house for all people to come and get to know them.
I invite you to join me and my family this Sunday after church. It is at the Islamic Centre of South Calgary in Queensland and starts at 12:00 but will go all afternoon.
Jesus calls us to love our neighbors as ourself. Jesus modeled to us a way that disagreement doesn't mean we can't love people.
So, lets treat our neighbors as we would want to be treated if we were in their shoes.
