A Summer Of Sabbath - July And August at CCCF

We've been through a lot this year.

We recently got to the portion in Matthew where Jesus says "Come to me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest".

What if we stayed here for a bit and talked about what it means to rest in Christ? If we spent some time talking about the weariness of the past year and a half and receiving some peace and healing before we jump right back into things.

Let's spend the rest of the summer talking about rest. Sabbath. Not escape, not vacation, but really soul restoring rest in God.

Amen!

I'm also so excited about some special guests coming to speak with us this summer!

July 18th: Alyssa Wiens - CCCF's own - so glad to have Alyssa back sharing with us about rest and Sabbath.

August 15th: Mark Buchanan - Author, Professor and one of my favourite people! He's written a book on rest called "The Rest of God" along with many others. I've asked Mark to share his story of pastoring on Vancouver Island and building relationships with indigenous folks out there, how that heart continued here in Calgary by helping St. Barnabas out on Tsuu t'ina and how him and his wife, Cheryl, are starting a ministry called New Story.

August 22nd: David Conrad - David serves as the Community Engagement Manager at the Mustard Seed. He's a new friend of mine! I love the ministry of the Mustard Seed, and Dave is going to come and share with us what it means to care for those without houses in our city.

August 29th: Dr. Christina Conroy - Christina works in the area of contemplative and constructive theology with expertise in residential school history (and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada) as well as indigenous-settler relations. She is also one of my fav profs at Ambrose where I am a student. I will be interviewing Christina around the area of her involvement with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

We've got a beautiful summer ahead. There are no longer capacity limitations on in person gatherings, so all are welcome to attend in person. We will be having online options throughout the summer as well.

God bless you, and see you soon!

Justin
