Honest Advent: Light - Everything You Need for Sunday

Hi Everyone! To start I want to share with you a special thing we have planned for Sunday. Our Kid’s Club and Sunday School kids will be doing a short performance of the Christmas story for us right after the announcements. Part of Kid’s Club this Saturday will be putting an improv style performance together! Very excited to see our kids' interpretation of the Christmas story! Be sure to send your kids upstairs right at 10:30 just for this Sunday so they can get ready!

Then we’ll be diving into John’s gospel’s interpretation of Christmas, which doesn’t even mention shepherds, Mary, Joseph, Wise Men, or a manger. Strange right? Why is that? John talks about Christ’s birth as something knit into the creation of the universe, and the light we are all longing for. John sees Jesus as who we were created through, and what we are becoming too! Christmas is new creation. That might be the message of Christmas I really need to hear right now. How about you?

In-person Sunday School!

We have in-person Sunday School for kids aged 4-12 with our amazing teacher, Alissa! Sunday School will be held after our worship time.

This weekend in Kids church we will continue our theme of great stories of Trust in the Old Testament. This week we will look at the story of the Fiery Furnace and Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego who had faith that God would protect them. There are three important factors in this story that I hope to speak about. First is that the three men refused to cave to peer pressure around them - I hope our kids can learn something from that lesson. The second is that they said they would still trust God even if He didn’t protect them - this helps us see that even when God doesn’t answer our prayers He is still good! Finally, the story will help us learn that Jesus is so real and willing to be with us through it all that He would stand in the fire with them, and with us.

If you have any questions, or if there is any way that Alissa can support your family in discipling your children at home, please contact her at

That's all you need to know for this Sunday. May God richly bless you as you worship together this Sunday!

God bless,
