Is Christianity About Being a Good Person? - Everything You Need for Sunday
Happy New Year!
As you may have read, Calgary is experiencing a spike in COVID cases. This, of course, has been on my mind and on my prayers as I want to be sure to care for our church in the best way possible. If you are experiencing any symptoms, or have had any exposure, I recommend joining us for worship online. We will still have an in-person option this Sunday, with an in-person Sunday School. It will be slightly scaled back with a “take a chair and sit where you like” style. This allows for worshippers to sit with enough distance where they feel comfortable, and masks will be worn at all times.
If you’re anything like me, you feel a weariness to seeing about this news. I know it is sitting heavy on many of us. Please do not lose heart, or lose your hope. The only way that COVID can stop our church from doing what God has called us to do is if we let it, which we won’t! Galatians 6:9 says: Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
I’ve got a special sermon planned. I love the Sunday after New Year's. I've been thinking about something that God has put on my heart; something that might encourage you! I want to answer this question on Sunday: Is Christianity about being a good person? I find that when I meet people, and they hear I’m a pastor, they sometimes say, “I just try to be a good person.” I think is great of course, but I wonder if that’s what people think is the purpose? Is that what this is all about? Trying to be a good person? Maybe? Yes and no? Yes? No? I’ll give you my answer on Sunday!

In-person Sunday School!
We have in-person Sunday School for kids aged 4-12 with our amazing teacher, Alissa! Sunday School will be held after our worship time.
This weekend in Sunday School we will catch up with each other and find out how our Christmas celebrations were. We'll also watch a video!
If you have any questions, or if there is any way that Alissa can support your family in discipling your children at home, please contact her at canyoncreek.churchoffice@gmail.com.
That's all you need to know for this Sunday. May God richly bless you as you worship together this Sunday!
God bless,
Justin
