Is Our Lack of Faith Why We Don't See Miracles? - Everything You Need for Sunday
Hi Everyone!
Why don’t we see more miracles? That’s a pretty tough question to answer isn’t it? It’s a question that also comes with a lot of pain. This isn’t just a theological puzzle, it is a deep question often asked with many tears! Why not?
The most common answer is because of lack of faith. Where does that come from? Well, it might just come from our very scripture for this Sunday: Matthew 13:53-58. Have a look for yourself.
There’s a problem with this though, and I would say it turns into victim blaming. Is it the fault of the tearful prayers of the parents when praying for their sick child, or maybe their church didn’t believe enough? Maybe not enough prayers were said? This god starts to sound more like Baal than Jesus — a god that only listens when you’ve proved yourself.
Look deeper. Something seems strange in this story. Can you find it? Seems like Matthew left something out…

In-person Sunday School!
We have in-person Sunday School for kids aged 4-12 with our amazing teacher, Alissa! Sunday School will be held after our worship time.
This weekend, in Sunday School, we will look at the first of a group of parables that we'll work through this semester. This week, we'll talk about the Prodigal Son! This story is so interesting and I’m sure everyone has heard many sermons on it over the years. I think the most important part for our kids to understand is that the Father waits and welcomes His child home so easily. Our kids need to know that God is waiting and ready to welcome no matter what, no matter what they do or how long they’ve gone without talking to Him, God is always ready to embrace them. I also think there’s a valuable lesson in the jealousy of the older brother. It’s easy to feel like that sometimes too - how do we deal with that? I think this first lesson about the parables of Jesus is going to be great and I can’t wait!
If you have any questions, or if there is any way that Alissa can support your family in discipling your children at home, please contact her at canyoncreek.churchoffice@gmail.com.
That's all you need to know for this Sunday. May God richly bless you as we worship together this Sunday!
God bless,
Justin
