Palms - Everything You Need for Sunday
Hi Everyone!
This Sunday is the beginning of Holy Week. We commemorate Jesus entering Jerusalem! He only spends one week there before he is crucified. I love Holy Week, because it is rare that Bible stories get placed into time. We get to walk with Jesus through this week. We get to meditate on what was happening each day, what Jesus must have felt, and what the disciples were going through. Sunday we enter the story of Jesus looking out on Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives. I can feel His nerves! He’s coming out as messiah! He’s entering the tense political and religious space! He knows this will end in his death. “Go get the Donkey!” It’s happening. Jesus isn’t backing away. What does this story tell us? And why did they wave palms at him?

In-person Sunday School!
We have in-person Sunday School for kids aged 4-12 with our amazing teacher, Alissa! Sunday School will be held after our worship time.
This morning in Sunday school I will be talking about the Last Supper! The most important things I want to talk about in this story are Jesus sharing a meal with His friends and the concept of Communion, which we take from here. Food is such a vital part of our relationships, whether we realize it or not! It's something that brings us together with our families, friends, and even with strangers, and that’s really special. Communion is a huge part of our faith. It's something we do together as a church and it reminds us of the sacrifice Jesus made for us, giving up his blood and body so we could live. Please say a prayer for me as I try to teach our kids about this sort-of metaphor (of drinking Jesus’ blood and eating Jesus’ body) that means much more than a metaphor!
If you have any questions, or if there is any way that Alissa can support your family in discipling your children at home, please contact her at canyoncreek.churchoffice@gmail.com.
That's all you need to know for this Sunday. May God richly bless you as we worship together this Sunday!
God bless,
Justin
