Stumbling into Some Kind of Treasure - Everything You Need for Sunday

Hi Everyone!

This week we’re looking at a very short parable, so short you can read it right now: “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field."

What do you notice as you read? What questions come to mind?

Here’s a few of mine: Jesus describes the Kingdom of Heaven as something worth everything I have to receive it. If I’m not willing to lose everything for it, do I even know what it is? Why does he buy the field instead of just taking the treasure (it can’t be morality because it’s not exactly moral to buy someone’s field without telling them you found a treasure in it)? Share with me your questions and thoughts Justin.bills@gmail.com

Additionally, we'll celebrate Communion this Sunday. We'll have COVID-safe elements at church. For those of you who will join us on Zoom, please have some juice and bread ready for you to partake.

In-person Sunday School!

We have in-person Sunday School for kids aged 4-12 with our amazing teacher, Alissa! Sunday School will be held after our worship time.

This weekend we will be continuing our conversation about the beginnings of Jesus’ ministry. Immediately after his baptism, Jesus heads out to the desert where he spends 40 days following up on the promise he just made to God to get to know Him better. He is tempted and tried but he does not surrender to evil. One of the most important things here is that Jesus had a good foundation on which he could stand when things got difficult. My point in Sunday School this week will be that building an important foundation is vital for all of us too, and we'll start to ask how we can get to that point.

Stay tuned for the next kids club events on January 29th and February 12th!

If you have any questions, or if there is any way that Alissa can support your family in discipling your children at home, please contact her at canyoncreek.churchoffice@gmail.com.

That's all you need to know for this Sunday. May God richly bless you as we worship together this Sunday!

God bless,

Justin
