Why Judgment? - Everything You Need for Sunday

Hi Everyone!

This week we come across a scripture that has garnered more feedback than any other scripture we’ve walked through so far. It’s one about judgment. Jesus tells a parable about the Kingdom being like a net that catches all types of fish, and at the end of the age, Angels will sort them out and throw the wicked into a blazing furnace. Many of you shared with me that this scripture is hard to take in. I agree. Does this mean it isn’t about grace? If Christ’s sacrifice covers us and forgives us, why can’t it be powerful enough to remove all judgment? These are tough questions, aren’t they?

This Sunday, we’re going to dive into those questions. I pray that, by diving into this, we find the gospel in it and we find why Matthew and Jesus found this to be important. The last thing I want to do is shrug it off but equally, I also need to know it works this way, and where the loving heart of Jesus is in the midst of it. I’m happy to share what I’ve found!

In-person Sunday School!

We have in-person Sunday School for kids aged 4-12 with our amazing teacher, Alissa! Sunday School will be held after our worship time.

This weekend in Sunday School we will be looking at some of the stories of Jesus’ miracles. Specifically, we’ll look at the story of Jesus changing water into wine and when He fed the five thousand. The story of Him turning water into wine is so special because it tells us how simple the gospel is, the ceremonial jars He used broke the stigma of having to be clean before coming to God. Instead, Jesus tells us to just come and spend time with him. By feeding the 5000, He is teaching us to trust in the simple truths, know that He can do Anything, and to be grateful for what we already have!

If you have any questions, or if there is any way that Alissa can support your family in discipling your children at home, please contact her at canyoncreek.churchoffice@gmail.com.

That's all you need to know for this Sunday. May God richly bless you as we worship together this Sunday!

God bless,

Justin
